Commissioned by the Financial Times Magazine, Lorne Campbell photographed the Hammonds Saltaire Band during their rehearsals for, and competing at, the Yorkshire Brass Band Championships, held at St George’s Hall in Bradford, last year. Recently, he photographed the Grimethorpe Colliery Band for The Guardian, as they rehearsed for their concert at the Royal Northern College of Music’s `Festival of Brass’ in Manchester. Aged seven, Lorne Campbell was introduced to Grimethorpe's legendary professional conductor, George Thompson, by his father.
